Wollondilly recipients announced under the NSW Local Sports Grant Program I am pleased to share news that five sports organisations in the Wollondilly and the Southern Highlands are successful in obtaining a combined total of $50,000 in the latest round of the NSW Government's Local Sport Grant Program. The Program provides grants for minor facility upgrades, new equipment and programs that support and encourage participation in sport and active recreation in NSW. Grants up to $20,000 were available. Sport plays a vital role in bringing the community together. Sport is a crucial part of the community providing physical activity and research has shown sports lead to positive health and wellbeing outcomes. I warmly congratulate the successful organisations across the Southern Highlands and Wollondilly LGA and commend their ongoing commitment to building stronger, healthier and more connected communities. With tight budgets and clubs ever more reliant on volunteers, this funding gives teams resources to invest based on their community needs I congratulate the following local sports organisations that were successful in securing New South Wales Local Sports Grant Program funding: Wollondilly Basketball Association - $4,100 Loop Line Pony Club - $4,000 Mittagong Cricket Club - $3,000 Highlands Golf Club - $20,000 Southern Highlands Water Polo - $13,900 Wollondilly Knights Senior AFC, AFL Club - $5,000 Behind every local club is a team of volunteers, families and players, coaches and referees or umpires, who give their time to keep community spirit alive.
